On October 22, 2018, at the ORIS House of Architecture in Zagreb, the results of the “Strengthening the Capacities of Public Authorities, Associations, the media, and citizens for the Implementation of the Act on the Right of Access to Information” operation were presented and the operation was adjourned. Held between October 2017 and September 2018 and co-financed by the European Social Fund’s Operational Programme Efficient Human Resources, totalling HRK 599,922.00.

The operation’s aim was to strengthen key stakeholders’ capacities in terms of access to information – public authorities as well as users – associations, media, citizens to apply the Law on Access to Information all the more effectively, and thus contribute to the transparent, open and responsible work of the government and of public administration in the Republic of Croatia.

Anamarija Musa, the Information Commissioner, Branko Baričević, the Head of the European Commission Representation in the Republic of Croatia, and Ante Lončar, director of the Croatian Employment Service, presented the results of the operation in their welcoming speeches. Since this particular event presented the perfect opportunity to mark the five-year anniversary of the institution of the Information Commissioner, Commissioner Anamarija Musa made a brief statement on what has been achieved in the Commissioner’s Office during this period.

Following this, Ina Volmut, the commissioner’s advisor, briefly presented the results and outcomes of the implementation of project activities which included, among other things, the implementation of regional trainings and webinars for public authorities and users of the right of access to information, holding an international conference for information commissioners, the creation of publications and the Information Commissioner’s new website, and the production and publication of educational video material on groups of topics that cover this constitutionally-guaranteed right and that will remain of permanent assistance and use to both key stakeholders and to the general public alike.
